I believe (or invision) that two of kind become one. Like the vines of a tree, their branches inevitably entwine with the other forming an inseparable bond.

Loved the story. Having such a relationship like theirs is so rare and so beautiful. Annie and I are going on 45 years now and moved three times (twice when only one of us had a job at the beginning). We relied on each other, trusted each other, and we remain madly in love with each other. Good health, financial stability, and loving relationships are life's trifecta.
