Such a touching story.

I remember precious moments in my career while working in a school district with more than 30% English Language Learners enrolled. One morning during homeroom a student came to the office upset because he had lost his mitten on the floor. I proceeded to guide him down the corridor to try and locate the mitten when he pointed to the main door. "Out there," he said. "Oh, you lost your mitten on the ground outside," I replied. We found it.

Another time a class was going for a walk; it was a lovely spring day and a chance for me to get out of the office for a bit. This second grade class had a teacher with strawberry blonde hair who was as kind as she was pretty. We passed a house where an Irish Setter lay on the grass enjoying the pleasant weather. A little guy made a connection and he excitedly expressed to his teacher that she "looked like the dog." Some of the students chuckled and the teacher graciously responded: "Why thank you, that dog is beautiful and we both have the same color hair."
