When summer comes, I go to that place, I heat baseball over a transitor radio and my Dad and brothers come alive, thanks for this

Thanks, Diana. Dr. DeNucci touched a nostalgic chord with many.

Ed, my Dad was a real die hard Red Sox fan! Many summer memories of hearing the game on

his transistor radio, in our Plymouth it always seemed to be tuned to a ballgame, he wasn't

much for listening to music, especially not Rock and Roll! He would also lie in bed in the dark

with that radio tuned to a Sox game. We would go to Pawsox games but seldom travel to Boston,

he was content to listen on the radio or watch them on the big RCA console in the living room.

I also have an Uncle Ray, my Fathers youngest brother, only Uncle left and he's turning 100 this

September and he's a die hard Yankees fan!

We share many wonderful memories, Tom. The transistor radio was key. I love that your Dad was so connected to it.

Some Yankees-related baseball stuff: In 1963 Yogi was a player-coach with the Yankees. In 1964 he took over as manager.

The evilYankees (to me it's one word) had many fans in New England back in the day, partly because they had one of the very first prominent Italian-American players: second baseman Tony Lazzeri, part of 1920s' "Murderers Row." In 1936 he had 11 RBIs (including 2 grand slams) in one game. Not for nuthin', he's in the Hall of Fame.

Joe DiMaggio came along and kept the tradition going. The Sawx had their own DiMaggio; their fans recited, "Better than his brother Joe / Dominic DiMaggio," but...no. Dom was good (better than brother Vince anyway), but Joe was an immortal.

Yes, Luther, all the Italians of that era, save for my father, were Yankee fans because of the lineup loaded with Italian/Americans. My father loved Yogi and saw him play in Cranston Stadium. I'm not sure why his loyalty to the Sox. Though it has been different for us, he never saw the Sawx win a World Series.

What beautiful memories and sharing them was nice to once a baseball fan, of course the Red Sox. Everyone loved Yogi! I grew up with four brothers back in the 1940S and one was a diehard Yankee fan. Summing it up. Dam Yankee's!

Yes, Peter, love them or not, the Red Sox are part of our fabric.
