Thank you. His response at yesterday's cabinet meeting was embarrassing, lacked information and was hardly a confidence builder

I contracted polio when I was 13 years old and spent two months in Chapin Hospital, which was full of polio victims, where I saw many corpses taken away. I was lucky: I couldn't walk for several months and have some permanent damage to my legs, but I survived. The next year the polio vaccine became available, people were vaccinated, and the horror of polio stopped. If people today saw what I saw, they would follow their doctor's advice and get vaccinated.

Ed, great note. When I went for my polio vaccine at The Chapin Hospital, I saw the children in iron lungs. It was frightening. You're correct. If those who are opposed to vaccines, Kennedy being one, saw what I saw and experienced what you did, they all would have a change of mind. And heart. Thank you.

Ed, no Dr. Ed, I said so many times to Ann, that there were three Department heads I pray that are not appointed. Two I can live with. Kennedy NO! What background does he have with the sciences?

He will embarrass all the medical people that studied the science's and still researching. It's a complete embarrassment to all. I look up to all the professional people. Salk and so many more that you would surely know.

Correct. He should especially embarrass the haplsless Senator Cassidy, once a practicing physician who shamefully supported him.

Excellent piece, Ed. Well-researched and backed by facts. As always, you are too kind. Bobby's brain worm may be dead, but it must have died on a full stomach.

John, if one person dies because he/she follows his antivax bull, then shame on him. And the hapless Senator Cassidy, a purported pediatrician who suppoeted him.

Ed,

I completely agree with you on these items. I will go no farther because I happen to know Bobby personally and agree with his sibling who have said publicly that he is insane and a danger to our country.

The problem that arises with the people placed in charge of our government by the self-described genious is that they do not know or care to learn the role of government. That is the problem when you put businessmen in charge without that knowledge. It is proper to watch spending, but it is improper to make decisions based on the bottom line, without regard to consequences. It is particularly important when it is applied to the health of the nation.

Governments are formed to do and make decisions that benefit ALL the people that would or could not be attainable individually. Think about roads, water, utilities, education and protecting our natural resources, all for the future generations.

What we are experiencing now is transactional government with no clear program for the future.

We are in trouble.

Paul

And, Yes, we are in trouble. Just look at who heads this $1B+ agency whose mission:

"The mission of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is to enhance the health and well-being of all Americans, by providing for effective health and human services and by fostering sound, sustained advances in the sciences underlying medicine, public health, and social services."

Bobby is off to a horrrible start.

Thanks, Paul. Well written as usual. I could not agree more. Because you know the game, perhaps you might be willing to write a guest piece that evaluates Bobby's performance; notwithsatanding your relatonship with the family. I'll understand if youd would rather not.

Dr. Ed, thank you for this article. Bobby is unqualified for this position, as are most of the other Cabinet appointees. US was not prepared to combat the recent pandemic due to budget cuts...I shudder to think what could happen in the future.

So concerned about the measles outbreak in Texas and beyond. One child has already died. Bobby is playing down the seriousness of this instead of promoting parents getting their children vaccinated to prevent the spread of the disease.

Bobby's responses or lack thereof are predictable. His cabinet response to the President was embarrassing.
