Watching Watchbirds
I’m looking for a happy watchbird
It’s difficult to find a decision or even a statement in this Watcher episode that inspires confidence in Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Some of you have suggested that I have a political issue with him.
I challenge any reader to find something political that I have written or something that:
1. Is not a scientific fact or
2. Not a statement by The Secretary
So here I go with some thoughts about The Secretary and his decisions/behavior.
Nominee for Surgeon General
Secretary Kennedy and Senator Cassidy, I'm giving you a heads-up to gain you credit with the President. Please let him know that his nominee for Surgeon General, Casey Means, DOES NOT QUALIFY because:
*** She does not have an active medical license.
Also
She would not be able to get on any medical staff because:
1. She is not board-certified
2. She never completed a residency
3. She has NO case logs
4. She has never had a fellowship
Jes sayin', ya know.
Senator Cassidy, you were once a physician who MUST have done some staff credentialing (notwithstanding your Kennedy goof). You should know about the lack of qualifications. Uh, you should have known . . .
As I said, Senator, give the President a heads up so he doesn't look foolish in appointing an unqualified person.
You may get a cabinet appointment.
Instead of evidence, Kennedy just made stuff up.
“She was the top of her med—the very top of her medical class at Stanford,” Kennedy said.
WRONG, Mr. Secretary
It would’ve been impossible for Means to be at the top of her class, as Students aren’t ranked at Stanford.
Students are graded on a pass-fail system.
Measles Outbreaks
No statement from Secretary Kennedy yet.
Measles cases continue to accumulate in the United States in what is already the second-worst year since the disease was declared eliminated a quarter-century ago.
Now, a recent outbreak in one North Dakota county has led local health officials to quarantine nearly 200 unvaccinated students.
Quarantining for three, yes 3, weeks. . . !!
No statement from Secretary Kennedy yet.
The Secretary’s Germ Theory
In his recent book, RFK Jr. promotes this inaccurate view of germs. He laments that “germ theory” has dominated over the long-debunked 19th-century miasma theory, which he defines as “preventing disease by fortifying the immune system through nutrition and by reducing exposures to environmental toxins and stresses.” This appears to be a novel definition of miasma theory. It was once the (miasma) belief that diseases like cholera were transmitted through “bad air” emanating from corpses or corrupting matter.
He summarizes with a false dichotomy about measles:
When a starving African child succumbs to measles, the miasmist attributes the death to malnutrition, while virologists appropriately blame the virus.
It’s the virus, Secretary!! No virus, no death!
Another Kennedy Beaut . . .
How do you like this one?
He has claimed that Lyme Disease, the tick-borne illness, is a military bioweapon and blamed vaccine research for creating the disease. There is still no vaccine for Lyme disease.
And another beaut . . .
He claims that the measles vaccine contains cells from aborted fetuses, and the mumps vaccination does not work.
WRONG, Secretary. Many will listen to you and suffer the consequences.
The U.S. is battling one of its worst outbreaks of measles in 25 years.
Secretary, take a hard look.
We are at a tipping point for the return of endemic measles, declared eradicated nationally in 2000.
You must and should provide urgent endorsement for vaccines.
And this one on Fluoride?
The Secretary said fluoride is making Americans stupider. '
''The more you get, the stupider you are, and we need smart kids in this country, and we need healthy kids." There is no evidence for this at all.
He said this during a cabinet meeting on April 30 with President Donald Trump. During a Cabinet meeting. Can you believe this?
Talk about stupider!
Senator Cassidy, are you listening? You put him in.
Thanks, Ed. We can't let ourselves get discouraged and allow this bizarro world to become "normal." Glad that you continue to point out the falsehoods.
Ed, you are right on target. Please keep up the effort, the truth must eventually be heard, and the stakes are so high. How sad it is that we have fallen so far. Everyone with reason needs to pitch in.
