Gail, what a beautiful life and well-presented and If I may stay young with your beautiful thoughts and memories. You, Gail, had a wonderful life and many more years to carry on.
Gail, my wife Ann graduated Mt Pleasant 1956 and also did the Castle theater Sunay movies.
Beautiful days-beautiful memories.
Your writing is Top Notch. Oh-your dads work a beautiful work of art.
Dr I, I love this story . Brings back so many memories . A much safer place to trick or treat for candy. I was just telling someone how we would go up 3 family houses , stairs didn’t matter and there was one man who always gave us change. We made it back to his house every year. lol
Halloween story goes way back! The Ghost and Mr. Chicken is a 1966 American comedy horror mystery film starring Don Knotts as Luther Heggs, the town dunce and a newspaper typesetter.
Gail, I grew up on Home Ave in a two family with my grandparents living on the second floor in the late 1960s' through 1970's. My friends and I used to roam the neighborhood on Halloween night in our homemade costumes and pillow cases. Up Whitford Ave and all those streets off of Metropolitan Ave. Up and down Academy and all those beautiful triple deckers. Probably stopped at your house! Tons of candy! Yes, I think that was about the time the scare started.
Mom used to check all the candy I brought home. Also saw my fair share of movies at the Castle.
It was still a beautiful time back then. I have many happy holiday memories of growing up there.
I forwarded this to Gail, Tom. She is having difficulty replying on the site. Candy, candy and more in those mostly safe days. Did you wax any windows?
Gail, enjoyed your story! We shared similar experiences …holiday cookies stored in the front hallway of our triple decker in Bristol, my doll carriage & dolls too! Those were the days!
